Jelly babies are a soft jelly style confectionery that look like little people in a variety of colours. The colours usually correspond to a fruit flavour – strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, orange, lime, pineapple. If you are a chocolate fan but love jelly babies then you need to treat yourself to some Chicos – chocolate flavoured jelly babies!
Our jelly babies are Allens and you will get 22 in 100g. They contain glucose syrup, cane sugar, thickenre, gelatine, food acid, flavours and colours. They are suitable for dairy and nut free dietary constraints/choices.
Our Australian made jelly babies do not have the dusting of starch found on English jelly babies which are also slightly larger and have a harder outer covering of the jelly interior – a hybrid between jelly beans and our jelly babies.
Jelly Babies were launched by Bassett’s in 1918 in Sheffield as “Peace Babies” to mark the end of World War I. Production was suspended during World War II due to wartime shortages and the fact that the name had largely become ironic. In 1953 the product was relaunched as “Jelly Babies”.
