Gummi rings are also known as friendship rings. They are a ring shape jelly lolly in variety of flavours. There are two sizes of thickness in the rings depending on the manufacturer. Most of our supplies are made in Europe – either Spain or England.
The most favoured way to eat gummi rings is to slide them onto your fingers and then chew them off (the rings not the fingers!)
You’ll get 20 gummi rings in 100g and they contain glucose syrup, sugar, gelatine, flavourings, vegetable oil, vegetable concentrate, tumeric. They are suitable for those with gluten, lactose and nut intolerances.
Gummi rings are great for Treasure Chest birthday cakes and are complemented by other “ring” lollies such as Ring Pops – a much larger plastic ring holding a hard lollipop in the shape of a gem. Gummi rings are part of the gummi family – bears, feet, boots, sharks, snakes, skeletons.
A great birthday party game is to have your guests split into two teams (or more depending on numbers) and have them pass a gummi ring via a toothpick sticking out of their mouth from one person to another with the winning team being the one that passes it to each of their members first. We used to play this using “Lifesavers” – a hard round boiled lolly with a convenient hole in the middle. Another version could be to have a certain amount of mixed gummi rings that need to be sorted into flavours again using toothpicks held between your teeth.
Gummi rings are also a good product to use for guessing games – how many are in the jar – as they can be packed in tight or loosely to confuse those guessing the number. Regardless of the actual number the winner is always very happy to have a jar full of gummi rings!
